“Any model in this world would love to be an Angel.” Yes Adriana, that’s true. And not only any model. I’ll add every woman desires to have an amazing body, just like you. And you know what? Even if nature didn’t bestow you with Adriana Lima’s and colleagues’ figures, you should know that it’s not all about being born that way, but it’s about working hard (and eating properly) every day.

Diet
The prep Adriana undertakes ahead of each Victoria’s Secret fashion show is really strict and its made up of a rigid diet and gruelling workouts. She trains every day and for the last three weeks before the show, even twice a day.

Before every fashion show, she drinks protein shakes, vitamins and supplements to keep her energy levels up, adding a gallon of water a day to her diet routine.
“It is really intense, it’s not really the amount of time you spend working out, it’s the intensity” Adriana admits. Before you read her final countdown to the Victoria Secret’s Angels fashion show, remember that one, Adriana has already received many criticisms about her routine, and two, reality is not always pleasant. Adriana’s candor about her pre fashion show routine is much more believable than all those models who say they have hamburgers before a fashions show. In addition, Adriana is followed by trustworthy medical staff, therefore she is doing all this in the healthiest way possible. If you choose to follow in her footsteps and attempt a juice cleanse or similar (which at the moment are very popular), make sure you’ve spoken to your health practitioner before hand.

Here is Adriana Lima’s beauty countdown before the fashion show:

9 days left
For nine days before the show, she only drinks protein shakes (absolutely no solids). These delicious concoctions also include powdered eggs.

2 days left
Two days before the show, she abstains from the daily gallon of water, and “just drink normally”.

12 hours left
Finally, 12 hours before, she stops drinking. “No liquids at all so you dry out, sometimes you can lose up to eight pounds just from that,” she says.

But don’t worry she’s human (after all) and when she’s not preparing herself for a Victoria’s Secret Show, do you know which is her favourite cheat meal?
“Cupcakes! I love cupcakes – it’s crazy! My favourite place in the whole world is run by a friend of mine in Miami, The Baking Girl. She makes the best cupcakes.”

Training
As you know, every diet has to be combined with a regular workout. So, what about her training secrets?

Boxing is a real passion for Adriana and ten years of training with Michael Olajide, Jr., at New York City’s Aerospace, have assured her an athletic and well toned body. She usually works out twice a week at least for a 90-minute session.

“I tried many different things: spinning, aerobics, step, yoga. And then I tried boxing and I loved it; it became my passion. I love that it’s an intense workout, and it’s the best form of cardio. You get toned but not bulky.“

Adriana begins her workouts with five to ten minutes of exercises designed to sharpen her mental concentration, including jumping jacks and shadowboxing. Then there is the jump rope for up to 30 minutes of double unders (rotating the rope around your body twice within one jump), cross overs (crossing the rope in front of your body), and side-to-sides.

Then she puts her gloves on and takes to the speed bag for a rhythmic, high frequency ten minutes of throwing punches, followed by ten minutes of double-end bag work. Finally, Adriana and her personal trainer head into the ring to spar for up to 40 minutes.

So, next time you will go on a diet, don’t forget Adriana’s words “People can sometimes think that models don’t eat or don’t work out, but that’s not the truth. We do work out, and we do eat.” Amen.
